Spanish in Spain - OPEN UNIVERSITY CLASSROOM
The University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM), Toledo campus, and Escuela de Idiomas Nerja are offering a special program, Español en España – The Open University classroom, designed for college or university students who want to acquire a profound knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. The Program combines courses at both the Escuela de Idiomas Nerja and the UCLM in linguistic immersion and runs from 4 to 32 weeks. The Program begins at the Escuela de Idiomas in Nerja. The student will enrol in this Program until he/she reaches the level to qualify to take the official exam of Spain, known as the D.E.L.E. at the Intermediate level. After having reached this level of Intermediate proficiency, the student will continue his/her studies at the UCLM Toledo Campus for a period of 16 weeks February,1st
2009 until May,21th 2009 or October 2010 to February 2011. Thus the Program is twofold: (1) the first segment to attain intermediate proficiency and the (2) second segment to continue studies with Spanish students on the college/university level at the UCLM Toledo Campus.
The UCLM Toledo Campus offers more than 40 different classes in the Schools of Humanities, Law, Economics and Business Administration as well as the Science of Physical Education and Sports. The university students also have access to sports complexes as well as gyms. The classes are geared to first and second year students on the University level and the students may obtain up to 24 college credits from UCLM. Studying economics, law, and history in Spanish alongside Spanish students paves the road to bilingualism.
