Spanish verbs are some of the most tricky subjects. The subjunctive mode can be a nightmare, but keep in mind some practical rules, though they are not exact they can help you at the beginning: In English you use past tense in the conditional sentences, in Spanish this past tense corresponds to subjunctive. Also when you use "I whish I had …" you are using the past tense of "to have". In Spanish you use the subjunctive: "Ojalá tenga…" In general speaking, when you use past tense in English and you are talking in a hypothetical way you should use subjunctive in Spanish and learn Spanish in Malaga.
